Blue Bloods

Clark Kent (Tom Welling) got a lift in the ratings as “Smallville” ended its 10-year run Friday night.
But Tom Selleck and “Blue Bloods” were still the biggest thing going for the night. The CBS drama averaged 11.4 million viewers for its first-season finale. CBS’ “CSI: NY” was second with 10.2 million for its season finale. And CBS’ “Flashpoint” was the No. 3 series on broadcast television with 7.5 million viewers.
CBS won the night by averaging 9.7 million viewers. The other broadcast networks lagged: NBC with 4.8 million, Disney-owned ABC with 4.4 million and Fox with 3.5 million.
But The CW was better than usual as “Smallville” exited with 3 million fans. It was the show’s most-watched episode since Oct. 15, and The CW’s best Friday since that day.
SPOLIER ALERT: Clark got his cape, stepped into the Superman role and saw Lex Luthor elected president in 2018. It was a rousing fadeout, especially when the John Williams music signaled that, yes, Superman had arrived.
NBC aired “Friday Night Lights” (2.8 million) and two hours of “Dateline” (5.8 million). ABC supplied “Shark Tank” (5 million), “Primetime: What Would You Do?” (3.7 million) and “20/20″ (with 4.4 million). And Fox offered a new “Kitchen Nightmares” (3.7 million) and a rerun of the same show (3.2 million). CBS edged Fox for the lead in the 18-to-49 age group.
