I hate to bang this drum over your head for probably the 10th time, but Michigan State and Kansas State are the epitome of why we need to start the rankings after the non-conference season. You can do something with ESPN, USA Today, and the AP where there is a projected poll, but nothing is official until after Christmas. The Spartans' season takes another hit as they have lost Korie Lucious for the year.Lucious got suspended for the rest of the season for 'content detrimental to the team' but could possibly return next season. For those who don't know, Lucious was a prized prospect out of Milwaukee who bounced all over the city trying to find a high school basketball team. One of my buddies reminded me that Lucious is a complete headcase and is known around the Milwaukee high school basketball circles as one. No coach really got along with him during his high school career due to his carefree attitude amongst other things.
I will admit I went 'trolling' last night to try find maybe the tip of the iceberg for solving the question of 'what did he do?' Message boards are lethal, but they still can give out some information like that. Two caught my eye, one regarded drinking heavily throughout the break and tweeting about it, which wouldn't be good seeing as Korie had a DWI this summer. and the other is a fractured relationship with Coach Izzo, Kalin Lucas, and Durrell Summers. Both I never believe to be true, just providing possible reasons why there is some beef in East Lansing.
The ball is now in Keith Appling's court. A heralded recruit out of Detroit who has been giving Izzo valuable minutes in the Big Ten season and now has the assumed role of the 6th man. State has a real problem on their hands if Lucas and Appling get into foul trouble because they only have two true court generals on the roster. I wouldn't exactly say Michigan State is in flux, but they have fallen on harder times than they are usually accustomed to in prior years. The million dollar question is will Lucious be back next season?
Izzo didn't say Lucious was completely done for at Michigan State, but with Korie's personality, I could totally see him ready to transfer. Please Buzz Williams, I am begging you, I want this kid nowhere near the MU program. I believe we are just all seeing what some knew before, Korie has the talent, but not worth the time.
