New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez entered the season ranked as one of the top fantasy centers in the league. But after eight games, Lopez is not playing up to the levels fantasy owners who drafted him in the early rounds had been expecting. Lopez is now averaging 16.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks on 38% shooting.
The Breakdown
Lopez has had a disappointing start to the season. His points are close to what he put up last season, but his field goal percentage is abysmal. He's been a career 50% shooter through his first two years in the league. Also, Lopez's rebounding numbers are way down due in large part to the presence of fierce rebounders Troy Murphy and Derrick Favors.
While his shooting numbers should eventually improve, we're not sure if he can be close to the double-double machine we expected him to be this season considering he hasn't had a single double-double thus far. Lopez owners will have to be patient and hope his numbers improve as his trade value is very low right now. If you don't have Lopez on your squad, now is a good time to buy low as he just had a terrible 4 point, 6 rebound performance.
