DIY ladybirds

My clever friend Jordan made these gorgeous ladybugs and has been kind enough to share the DIY here. I think these would be cute for a bedroom too.

More pics of the party on Jordan's blog and here. Have a fab weekend! I'm off to Brisbane for a wedding :-)

Easter Craft - Glassine Cookie Bags

I thought some cute custom-made glassine bags would be a nice touch for our Easter cookies!

You need a sheet of glassine (we bought one from our local art shop), a pack of doiley's and your sewing machine! You could use double sided tape & washi tape for a no-sew project, but I love to sew paper!

Cut glassine to your desired measurement - I folded my paper over so my bags were thicker, then fold in half again, sew the doiley into the top seam, then sew up the sides! Very simple really.

These are my 3rd attempt at icing biscuits, I am getting a little better with practice. I was very happy with the spotty technique! The icing was much brighter than I expected but I did use gel colouring and as the book says, it gives a vibrant colour compared to supermarket food colouring. You could pop little eggs in these too and seal with washi tape!

Easter Craft Inspiration

Some glittery eggs and felt birdies - tutorial here

These would be much safer to paint than real eggs in our house!

Friday Favourites - the doiley

I started the week with a doiley I may as well finish with one! Divine wedding dress made by the bride featured on 100 layer cake - love the green and pink combo (although I am a bit biased - it was my wedding combo 8 years ago).

DIY tote by Ashley Ann Photography - who has a really lovely blog!

And a whole lot of doiley links and inspiration here! I am feeling emotionally and physically exhausted today - hubby flies in late tonight after a week away for work and I am over doing this gig on my own. I certainly take my hat off to single mum's and service wives - I hope this short experience gives me more empathy to offer more support to 'you' where I can. Have a great weekend - I am going to be sleeping in tomorrow that is for sure.

DIY Doiley Lampshade

How very cool - instructions and photo courtesy of this lovely Sweedish blog! I have a mountain of lace doileys that might get put to good use after all!? Wall paper glue was used as the stiffener in this lampshade not starch - I guess it acted as a starch. I saw one of these for sale for $850!! yikes.

Friday Freebies

Photobucket

With garlands on the brain I found a few freebies and ideas to share. Pop on over to see my friend Jordan of Polkadot Prints if you want the above gorgeous free downloadable Advent garland!

Or visit Twig & Thistle for a cute Magnet Advent Calendar DIY. A fun project to keep the kids busy over the weekend. I haven't visited T&T for a while and I was reminded what great taste Kathleen has... if only I had more time for blog surfing! Enjoy your weekend.

My Creative Space - project dreaming

I really want to make one of these for the 'kiddies' - I am still getting used to the plural :-) This sweet one is from Smile and Wave.

For budding Masterchef's

This little kitchen was built from Ikea components :-) How cool is it!??!!! I love the idea of decent toys that have longevity (aren't plastic) and are able to be shared. Hmmm we have a few months until Anya's 3rd birthday - this may be a job for 'Daddy' and 'Papa' (the latter has the right tools)! Maybe after the big house move.... waiting, waiting for my pre-settlement inspection tour appointment! Come on folks - lets get it over with. I hope you all had a nice long weekend.

DIY Wedding Ideas

{image}

I have been helping a lovely friend with some DIY ideas for her wedding - I don't tire of weddings these days - maybe because the frequency has slowed down somewhat! It was crazy there for a good 5-10 yrs! I have been a bridesmaid 8 times, a flower girl once and even managed to find time to get hitched myself.

{Image}

Enjoy some of these lovely images and ideas I have found while surfing the net! The best thing is they don't necessarily have to be for weddings!

Most of these I found through this great find called Weddinggawker! They also have foodgawker and craftgawker - cool!
