DIY ladybirds

My clever friend Jordan made these gorgeous ladybugs and has been kind enough to share the DIY here. I think these would be cute for a bedroom too.

More pics of the party on Jordan's blog and here. Have a fab weekend! I'm off to Brisbane for a wedding :-)

My Creative Space - Party Cakes

As I mentioned yesterday my handsome little guy is almost 1! We had a little family party for him last Saturday on the rare occasion all 4 my siblings were in town and it was my brother Jeremy's actual birthday that day!

My first 'boy' cake! From the "Women's Weekly More Cakes for Kids" book. It was very easy and if you have the book, I just doubled the butter cake mix and used a square tin instead of a loaf tin but I forgot to double my icing so I only just made it! Those flat icing knives really are worth having for this sort of icing!

Best dad ever! Another rare shot, Anya smiling for the camera, she is such a 'contrary Mary'.

The birthday boy a little unsure about the singing (pictured with my sister and niece).

The two birthday boys, Jeremy and Josiah. More creative spaces for your viewing pleasure, at Kirsty's.

Children's Party Ideas - Art Exhibition Party

How gorgeous is this idea for a kid's party - particularly if they like arts & craft! I love the numbered craft stations and those name cards.

Simple paper chains - very achievable and decorate your room as you go!

Face painting!

I don't know that I would have the patience for this cake but how marvellous is that!

This divine site has lots of DIY tutorials and a few free printables not to mention plenty of other great theme ideas on the side bar. I found One Charming Party via Design Mom who has moved to France incidentally - I'm a bit slow!

Scandi style

These cute Scandi bookends and tree come from Peters of Kensington. What don't they sell now!!?? I always thought they were a kitchen shop. Seriously, you could spend a while there and they seem like genuine bargains? I found these under Homewares > furnishings.

Drawing time

These fun twig pencils and crayon stones are from Romp! The crayons are made from Soy Wax and are non-toxic. Like the pencils, I imagine the crayons are good for kids to grip easily. Romp is the sister store to Twine that the fun white ceramic cameras came from.

Product Review - My Claire Rose

I bought these darling 'newborn booties' for Josiah before he was born from the lovely Natalie of My Claire Rose! He wore them home from hospital (they still fit him). They are gorgeous and soft, made from wool and bamboo. He also wore them to our friend's wedding in Brisbane last month... for a little while anyway, it wasn't really bootie weather - but looked ever so cute.

For the same wedding, I purchased a lovely burp cloth too as I didn't want to drag around the daggy white nappies we use at home! This cloth was a great width for catching puke and looked very stylish! Nat has some really lovely things in her shop and for GREAT prices! Even though I can sew and could have whipped up a burp cloth of my own I really appreciate being able to purchase well made items I don't have time to make myself. I don't think I really truly appreciated buying 'handmade' from other clever folk until I started doing the Handmade Market and running my own online stores!

Kids Pattern

This was supposed to be Anya's birthday party outfit for last October (spotty theme) but we had a cold snap and she had to wear Jeans and a long sleeve shirt underneath! However we have gotten alot more wear out of it in the warmer weather. What crazy mother makes white linen pants for a 2 yr old!??? {Ermm, the same one who bought her a white winter jacket for this winter! ha ha..} Anyway, this pattern was a quick and easy one from Burda. You may notice I changed a few things to suit myself, i.e. no frills on bottom of pants and no elastic or gathers on the sleeves to make them puffy etc.. I think a sleeveless version in some AB fabric would look nice too.
