The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Mario Chalmers is questionable for the start of training camp at the end of September due to a high ankle sprain he incurred in mid-July. Additionally, Carlos Arroyo suffered a deep contusion in his left quad during the FIBA World Championships that may sideline him through part of training camp.
The Breakdown
These two will be fighting for a starting spot alongside Miami Thrice. Originally, we gave the inside track to Arroyo as he had won the starting job from Chalmers last season. With these two injured, it may turn out that whoever gets healthy first gets the starting gig. These injuries are something that we'll have to monitor going into the season as the player who gets the starting role should get a ton of open looks and assist opportunities as opponents are forced to pick their poison between LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.
